From 2010 to 2012, I worked as editor and producer for Bonnie Plants, the largest national vegetable plant company in the country. As the nation-wide vegetable supplier for Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Walmart, Bonnie Plants was distinguishing itself from many other plant companies by building its own brand awareness, including in-store and online. While working for Bonnie Plants, I helped manage a website redesign and transition to mobile, writing and development of in-depth gardening content and plant profiles, the addition of QR codes to our plant tags, and the production of custom point-of-purchase materials such as signage and brochures for our big three retailers as well as for independent garden centers. I also worked with media partner and garden celebrity P. Allen Smith and his team for influencer events and content development, and I answered hundreds (maybe thousands) of gardening questions online. During my time with Bonnie Plants, I gained experience and expertise in, and a deep love for, vegetable gardening.
